Hey, I’m Porter.

I’m a filmmaker, husband, a dad, and usually leaving a shoot with more footage and more friends than I planned on. I’m based in Utah, and I love getting to know the people I film. It makes the whole experience more enjoyable, and it helps me understand what matters to you.

If being on camera feels a little awkward, I get it. Suddenly you’re very aware that you have arms and absolutely no idea where they belong. I’ll help when you need direction, but you won’t have to perform for me. I’m there to document what’s happening, catch the conversations and reactions, and make a film that feels like you. Hopefully, by the end, you’ll have forgotten about the camera a few times.

About Rope Tow Films

The mountains are a pretty big part of our story. They’re where I met the love of my life, where we said “I do,” and where we keep going back to make memories. So naming this business Rope Tow felt right. Apparently, we owe the mountains quite a bit, including a wedding and now a business name.

Rope Tow Films documents weddings, families, brands, and the occasions that bring people together. We capture the big moments and pay attention to everything happening around them, too. The laugh during a serious speech. The kids doing their own thing. The person who has been waiting all evening for their song to come on. We take the work seriously, but there’s plenty of room to have a good time while making something you’ll want to keep.
